Dr. Jürgen Todenhöfer is a brave author who does in depth investigation and research on his subject matter. He is currently writing a book about the terrorist group in Syria and Iraq that calls themselves IS (The Islamic State), which has also been called ISIS, ISIL or DAESH. While the news is replete with stories about this gruesome organization, very little is actually known about them. Despite the news stories about Westerners being brutally beheaded, Jürgen Todenhöfer risked his life to spend 10 days with this group in order to actually interview them and get the real story from the primary source itself.
He has been an executive at Burda Media for more than 20 years. Before that he was a member of the German parliament for 18 years and spokesman for the CDU/CSU on development and arms control. He has written best sellers about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. With the proceeds he established 2 children's homes in Afghanistan and a children's clinic in Congo. With the royalties from "Why do you kill, Zaid?" Todenhöferl financed medical aid for Iraqi refugee children (IOM) and an Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation project.
